Meet Hollie

Hey! I’m Hollie, a vocal tutor at The Music Nook.

When I was eight, singing along to the radio in the car, I turned to my mum and said I that I love to sing and that it’s what I want to do. Next thing I know, I was having singing lessons, and the year after that, I performed in my first show. From that moment I have fallen more and more in love with music: singing, dancing and performing has been my life. Music has made up my being, who I am, and is my greatest passion.

Many people know me as the girl who sings and performs in musicals. The question I’m often asked is ā€œwhat’s your next musical?ā€

I’ve had 10 years of lessons and training in singing from various teachers, including Mary Mirtschin, and have performed in over 30 stage shows since 2015. I completed VCE Music Performance (Repertoire) in 2023. In early 2024, I had the amazing opportunity to sing on Broadway in New York City, performing in Manhattan Concert Productions’ ā€œChildren of Eden,ā€ thanks to Class Act Productions.

Singing has had its ups and downs for me over the years, but luckily I have a mum who knew that singing and performing is what I am meant to do and would never let me quit. I am so grateful to her for this as I’ve continued to grow, learn and express myself through singing and performing. Music gave me a place of belonging, a supportive and uplifting community who helped me to grow - a place with the best role models for a little girl. To this day, I strive to be someone that younger performers can look up to.

Five facts about me:

  1. I am currently in my second year of my Bachelor of Nursing.

  2. I love musicals! The first musical I ever saw was Cats, and I’m in rehearsals for my tenth Class Act Production.

  3. I have many pets. Dog, cat, goats, lizards, and a budgie

  4. I grew up in a sport family and thought I was going to be a swimmer and surf-lifesaver like my mother as a kid.

  5. For my 18th birthday, I went sky diving, jumping 20 thousand feet out of a plane!
