Meet Simone
Hi! I’m Simone, a class teacher at The Music Nook.
Music has always been a huge part of my life. My musical journey started with learning piano at age seven, then I picked up the tin whistle not long afterwards. I loved travelling to folk festivals with my family, making music with groups of great people. I started learning the clarinet in high school and made some fantastic friends playing in bands, small ensembles and singing in choir. Studying Music at university enabled me to continue my love of exploring and playing a range of music genres with like-minded people. Once I finished my studies and went travelling overseas, I always sought out music ensembles I could join, forming connections and becoming part of communities with a common language.
While working as a primary school teacher, I have always been as involved as possible in school productions and performances. Teaching music across a local school and leading a choir were valuable experiences which fostered an important sense of belonging for the students. It can be so awe-inspiring to feel and share the joy and range of other emotions which creating music together can bring!
Bringing my own children to weekly classes at The Music Nook has been a wonderful experience for us all. The sense of community and connections we have developed have been so significant and I feel privileged to be able to continue these.
Five facts about me:
I’ve travelled to 30 countries and hope to visit many more one day.
